Todd Meats is and always has been a family company. It began from humble beginnings, with Ken Todd, who having worked at London’s famous Smithfield Market, left and branched out on his own some 40 years ago. In 1989 the current Managing Director and majority share holder, Robert Todd joined the Company, followed by Laura Todd in 1997, and most recently Simon Akhurst in 2001.
The company has always traded profitably, increasing turnover in 1998 from £5m to approximately £20m in 2008, showing consistent growth of over 15% per annum.
Careful management of this expansion, along with astute investment, has allowed Todd’s to “plough back” profits into the Company, sustaining growth internally, without the need for outside investment.
